KAF KAF
A profitable low cost alternate fuel needing no modification to conventional combustion engines, which opens an avenue to using waste biomass as the main feedstock

Klean Air Fuel Process

KAF is a patent pending process with an incredible potential for worldwide distribution.  The strength of the KAF process is that it converts biomass into a fuel that can be burned in a normal combustion engine WITHOUT modifying the engine.  The fuel can be mixed at any ratio with conventional fuel, or used 100% in a normal engine.

KAF is defined by a formulation that includes compounds which can be obtained simultaneously from all sorts of vegetal biomass in a well integrated production process.

KleanAirFuel S.A. has developed specific formulations which are now under patent pending status in the USA, to completely substitute diesel and gasoline. The one for gasoline and the one for diesel contain the same essential products but in different proportions and a few additives which are present in proportions of no more than 5 % volume.

Due to their potential, the KAF main components, which are highly oxygenated compounds obtained from biomass, have been investigated by different entities in the world and applied as fuel components individually by large international fuel companies.

The KAF production process is the result of synergistically unifying existing industrial processes; some of them were developed long time ago and are currently in use, and others that have seen significant development in recent years as a result of the escalating interest in the development of alternative fuels.

KAF leaves no soot on the engine parts, reducing maintenance costs. The fuel is low-toxic and posses no environmental threats to water resources or public health. KAF may be utilized in any proportion with gasoline, or diesel, or gasohol as well as in its pure formulated form, without requiring changes to the motor or causing any negative impact to it. It may also be used as the main component of diesel, requiring a minimum of 7% refined palm oil or 20% bio-diesel for lubrication purposes.

Technology

The KleanAirFuel production process comprises the transformation of solid biomass into several products that are all obtained simultaneously from the same intermediate product methanol. The innovation of this process is given by the integration of existent technologies and products into a whole production process that besides being technically efficient is also environmentally friendly.

Vegetal biomass is the raw material, from which a gaseous stream is obtained to produce methanol, from which two production lines derive, which complement each other, to produce on each line highly oxygenated compounds that have already being used as fuel additives, and which together, under a specific formulation that includes small quantities of certain additives, can substitute completely fossil fuel for internal combustion engines.

Company

KAF is seeking funds to complete our first facility that will be capable of producing 190 gallons per hour. Our technology, process, energy balance, and syngas out put have all been analyzed and verified by the Austrian Research Centers and the University of Dresden in Germany.

Our first plant will produce the first affordable liquid biofuel named KleanAirFuel (KAF), characterized by:

  • Being a versatile product which may be used as gasoline or diesel substitute, alone or mixed with other fuel products, without the need to modifying engines or fuel service stations.
  • Using raw material crops that may be grown in non food quality land and with a yield 5 times greater than any other bio-fuel. Also, may utilize agricultural waste as raw material.
  • Using CO2 process wastes to produce part of its own raw material which at the same time produces oxygen as a byproduct that is used in said process.
  • Producing the product in small profitable plants, enabling regions becoming energetically independent. They also provide jobs, lower stable energy cost and a more stable economy.

Investors

RPE is a lead investor in KAF and is seeking Angel investors that are willing to invest in the prototype facility. Once our facility in Austria is operating according to the business plan and achieving the projected profit margins, we will seek B round funding to scale the business and expand facilities abroad

Market Opportunity

Many governments are implementing mandates that require at a minimum mixture of biofuel.  These mandates are put in place without a clear understanding or plan of where this quantity of biofuel will come from.
From a low scale production (30kg per hour), we have estimated the financial returns for a commercial scale production:

  • The breakeven point in gallons of fuel is less than 33% of plant capacity. The return on investment is about 27% unleveraged return. The pay back period is about 3.7 years.
  • The market is large anywhere and plants can be placed in most parts of the world.
  • The strongest point is that this fuel needs 1/5 of the area required by other bio-fuels and needs no quality food land.
  • The first plant cost is about 25% more of those to be built in the future because of research made to assure successful profitable plant. Even though the project still shows to be highly profitable.
