Overview

The Reserve at Portalon (“The Reserve”). is an environmentally approved, 1,200-acre mixed-use wellness community in the heart of Costa Rica With over 900 acres of primary rainforest. About Costa Rica

Costa Rica is situated in Central America between Panama and Nicaragua. It is flanked by the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea, with a distance of approximately 248 kilometers (155 miles) between coasts. With a total area of 51,200 square kilometers (20,480 square miles), Costa Rica is roughly the same size as the state of West Virginia, yet it contains 6% of the world’s biodiversity.  With more than 100 years of democracy, and no military since 1949, Costa Rica is considered a country with a low political risk. The current president, Oscar Arias Sanchez, won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1987 for bringing peace to the region.

The Costa Rican people (“Ticos”) are extremely kind and hospitable. The general nature of the people is friendly, warm and inviting. Since they have not grown up living through wars, they are mild manner and the country tagline, “Pura Vida” encompasses all aspects of their relaxed, reserved lifestyle. Compared to other Central American countries, Costa Rica has the highest literacy rate, 4 million people (2nd lowest density), and 1st in Per Capita GDP ($11k). Many international companies, including Intel and Hewlett Packard have established Central American operations here because of the quality of the workforce, its friendliness to the US, and the stability of the government.
